TAUNTON AIR CADETS BID FAREWELL TO LONG SERVING VOLUNTEER
Wing Commander John Parsons, Officer Commanding Devon & Somerset Wing, joined with cadets, staff and civilian committee members of 41F (Taunton) Squadron in wishing adult volunteer, Warrant Officer John Squires a long and happy retirement from the Corps.
John retires having initially joined the Air Training Corps as a cadet at 914 (Glastonbury & Street) Squadron back in 1961.
WO Squires has also been a member of staff at 1031 (Frome), 1182 (Shepton Mallet) and 2282 (Castle Cary) Squadrons. He has been the Squadron Senior NCO at Taunton Squadron since 2012.
As well as carrying out his squadron duties WO Squires also conducted the role of Community Engagement Officer for Devon & Somerset Wing. His duties included visiting schools, colleges and other locations supporting the Wing recruitment campaign.
Wg Cdr Parsons thanked WO Squires for his long and dedicated service and wished him a happy retirement.
Following a parade at the Squadron there was a presentation of a card and several gifts from the cadets, staff and civilian welfare committee.
