Cadets from Devon & Somerset Wing have successfully completed the RAF Walking and Road Marching Association two day marching event. This event was held recently at RAF Cosford in Shropshire.

The Royal Air Force Walking and Road Marching Association was formed in 1980, Its aim is to promote the sport of walking within the Royal Air Force, its sister services and the cadet forces.

For many of the cadets it was their first long distance march, completing a total distance of 50 miles over two days. The march is also a qualifying event for the four day, one hundred mile International marches which are held at Nijmegen in the Netherlands each year.

There were a few blisters and aching joints but the weather was good, allowing the cadets to make good progress.

The cadets were trained and supervised by adult volunteer, Warrant Officer David Mayhew. All the cadets showed a great deal of determination and team spirit throughout the event.

Good luck to the members of the Devon & Somerset team who are selected for the Nijmegan Marches this year.
